Tim Cahill Cancer Fund
Written by Amy Craig
The Tim Cahill Cancer Fund for children was established late last year with the goal of raising $500,000 over the next two years. As a leading Socceroo and international footballer, Tim Cahill created the fund in order to use his profile to increase awareness of children’s cancer as he raises money to support the work of Cancer Council – Australia’s leading cancer charity.
The fund will be used to support Cancer Council’s work for children’s cancer by:
- Funding research and clinical trials looking to find better ways to treat and detect cancer in children
- Providing support services to patients and their families to ease the burden of their cancer journey
- Helping to build ‘cancer smart’ communities – by providing information and education on cancer prevention so our children will grow up knowing about the importance of sun safety, the risks of smoking, giving them the knowledge to lead healthy, active lives.
