Welcome to Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union
MMPCU was formed on July 1, 2008 by the joining of the Maritime Workers and Power Credit Union’s for the specific purpose of improving the economic and social well-being of all workers and their families, in the stevedoring, shipping, mining and power industries.
All the members of the Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union (MMPCU) are both customers and shareholders and all profits and operating surpluses are returned to members – either by way of lower interest loans, higher interest savings and investment rates or additional member services.
Message from our Chairman, John Coombs
On behalf of your Board of Directors I am pleased to be able to report to members of both Maritime Workers Credit Union and Power Credit Union that the merger has been successfully completed and I am proud to officially say – Welcome to Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union.
This is more than just a merger. This is an important and historical milestone for both Credit Union’s and its members. The merger represents a great opportunity to favourably position Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union in overcoming some of the arduous challenges currently facing the Financial Services Industry. It will guarantee the Credit Union’s viability for many generations to come.
The joining of both Credit Union’s has provided growth without the compromise of our service based business model. With its increased scale, Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union offers greater member service with an increased branch network around Australia for both memberships. We have also been able to retain our current product range, fees and charges and highly competitive pricing on our loans and investment products.
Since my appointment as Director in 1983 and Chairman in 1992, I have been privileged to witness the increasing growth of our Credit Union with the support of our members, Directors and all the staff. Our partnership with the MUA, CFMEU, SERF, SRF and Auscoal has also played a pivotal role in the Credit Union’s success and will continue to do so for many years to come. I can confidently see a bright future for your Credit Union; a Credit Union, which is in a position of strength to keep offering its members exceptional benefits with its renowned friendly personal service.
In conclusion, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Power Credit Union Directors, Management and Staff who have made this merger possible and will play an important and successful role in the future of Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union.
